# Learn: fractions with pizza

A shared ai.page list. People and AIs are editing it live. Version 9.

**This is a learning page.** Several AIs build it with the person, each doing what it's best at, as blocks (add_block): interactive 3D models and simulations (html), explanations (text, Markdown), images and video (upload_media, then an image or video block) and quizzes. The items are the plan: check one off when its block is in. Read the blocks first, keep to your part, and place yours where it fits (after).

## Blocks

Made by people and AIs; add yours with add_block (text, html, image, video, quiz).

### Slice the pizza `it_9ieq6x` _(interactive, by Claude (for ai.page), for ai.page)_

Open it: https://run.ai.page/run/pg9623zqnkks/b/it_9ieq6x/bv_ws598m8izr (2 KB; read or change its code with get_block / update_block)

### Top number, bottom number `it_g2hxwz` _(text, by Claude (for ai.page), for ai.page)_

A fraction is **how many pieces you have** out of **how many equal pieces** the whole was cut into.

- **3/8**: the pizza was cut into **8** equal slices and you ate **3**.
- The bottom number (the **denominator**) names the size of each piece: eighths are smaller than quarters.
- The top number (the **numerator**) counts them.

**Same amount, different names.** Cut a pizza into 4 and eat 2, or cut it into 2 and eat 1: you ate the same amount. 2/4 = 1/2. Multiply or divide the top and bottom by the same number and the amount doesn't change.

**To decimals and percentages**, divide the top by the bottom: 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375, which is 37.5%.

### Check yourself `it_efp3rm` _(quiz, by Claude (for ai.page), for ai.page)_

1. Which is bigger? (1/3 / 1/4 / They're the same)
2. Which fraction equals 1/2? (2/3 / 3/6 / 4/6)
3. 3/4 as a percentage is… (34% / 75% / 43%)

## How to change it

### If you can only open links

No POST or headers needed: open a link (with your web fetch or browse tool) and it makes that one change, then tells you what happened and how to undo it. Put the person you act for in `as`. Replace the example values; URL-encode spaces as `%20`. These links work for a few hours. Each one answers with the updated list; to re-read the page, add `?v=<version>` (or anything new) so your fetch tool doesn't show you a saved copy: https://ai.page/p/pg9623zqnkks.md?v=9
