1. Content · Students are expected to know the following:
- 2-D shapes (age 8+): Identify lines of symmetry in 2-D shapes presented in different orientations; recognise line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry
- Perimeter (age 10+): Recognise that shapes with the same area can have different perimeters and vice versa; explore this relationship systematically
- Regular and irregular polygons: Distinguish between regular and irregular polygons based on reasoning about equal sides and equal angles
- 12-hour and 24-hour time: Read, write, and convert time between analogue and digital 12-hour and 24-hour clocks
- Two-Step Equations: Solve two-step word problems using the four operations; represent problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity
- Fluent multiplication and division facts: Fluently multiply and divide within 100 using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division
- Fluent adding and subtracting within 20: Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies; know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers
- Tenths (age 8+): Count up and down in hundredths; recognise that hundredths arise when dividing an object by 100 or dividing tenths by 10
- Written Multiplication: Multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by a one-digit number using formal written layout
- Adding and subtracting (age 10+): Solve addition and subtraction multi-step problems in contexts, deciding which operations and methods to use and why, with numbers up to 10,000,000 and decimals
- Comparing fractions (age 10+): Compare and order fractions including fractions greater than 1, by converting to common denominators or using benchmarks
